Groups will perform Friday, November 15, 6:30 p.m., and each will receive a masterclass on Saturday, November 16. The winning group from Friday will be featured again at the Saturday Night Spectacular at 6:30 p.m.

FESTIVAL CHORUS

The Festival Chorus is open to ALL ATTENDEES and ALL AGES. You do not have to be a competitor in order to sing in the Festival Chorus! The chorus will have three rehearsals and perform two a cappella arrangements, one contemporary a cappella piece arranged by Deke Sharon ("I Lived," OPB One Republic) and one mixed barbershop arrangement by David Wright ("Danny Boy"). Sheet music and digital learning media will be available upon group registration and individual All-Access Pass purchases.

Our 2019 Festival Chorus Director is Drew Wheaton, the National Championships Director for the A Cappella Education Association and tenor of the 2016 International Barbershop Quartet champions, Forefront. Drew has been the the Musical Director of the 2019 Cardinal District Champions, the Thoroughbred Chorus since 2012. Also a live sound engineer for various contemporary a cappella concerts throughout Louisville, Drew has been an active coach and clinician, teaching at various contemporary a cappella workshops and youth harmony camps throughout the US (Kettering National A Cappella Festival, Camp A Cappella, etc.). He holds music degrees from McGill University and the University of Louisville, and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting degree from University of Louisville.

This year we welcome HIVE, Freeplay from Toronto, Canada, UNT Green Tones, Booker T. Washington Vocal Jazz, and special guest, Drew Wheaton, our Festival Chorus director! In this rich community of choral music in Texas, there is a vastly growing amount of a cappella bursting onto the scene and TVAC is all about taking it to the next level! TVAC is designed for vocal music enthusiasts of all ages and styles. No matter if you are just beginning your exploration into contemporary a cappella or you have a rich culture already instilled, TVAC is meant for you!

Plan your weekend and travel for Friday, November 15 to Saturday, November 16 so you can take full advantage with an All-Access Pass. Beginning Friday at 2:00 p.m. we have workshops, masterclasses, Festival Chorus rehearsal, a feature performance for a select junior high/middle school group, and a high school and collegiate level scholastic competition. Continuing on to Saturday we have specialty workshops and masterclasses with industry experts, and Aca-Bombs for our newly established groups! Participants will get to plan their classes and attend the areas THEY choose!

Sign up to sing in the Festival Chorus. Music will be selected by Drew Wheaton and PDFs and digital learning media sent to you via email. Singers should come prepared to make music and a memorable performance for the Saturday Night Spectacular! We will only have two short rehearsals before soundcheck, so come ready to rock! All voice parts are welcome and you do NOT have to be in an established a cappella group in order to participate. Scholastic competitors can participate in the Friday competition as well as the Festival Chorus on Saturday if they choose to do so.
